Laura Dunn, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker | Psychotherapist
Life can be overwhelming. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, significant life transitions, or simply feeling stuck, it can be difficult to know where to begin. I believe therapy provides an opportunity to step back, gain perspective, and develop the tools needed to move forward with greater confidence and resilience.
With over 20 years of experience in the field of social work, I bring a broad perspective and a deep appreciation for the complexities of individuals and families. I spent more than 15 years working in public child welfare before transitioning into clinical psychotherapy. Today, I work with adults navigating a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), relationship difficulties, and significant life transitions. My background in child welfare continues to shape my work, particularly my passion for supporting individuals and families navigating foster care, adoption, attachment, and complex family dynamics. I have a special interest in working with adults who grew up in out-of-home care, individuals navigating pregnancy and postpartum experiences, and those adjusting to the unique challenges of parenting, including second-time-around parenting.
My approach to therapy is collaborative, practical, and grounded in the belief that each person brings valuable strengths and experiences to the therapeutic process. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Gestalt techniques, and a strengths-based perspective to help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behavioral patterns. Together, we work to improve communication, strengthen relationships, develop self-compassion, and build effective strategies for managing life's challenges.
I work with adults across the lifespan, providing a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you can explore your concerns openly and at your own pace. My goal is not simply to help you manage the challenges you're facing today, but to help you develop the insight, skills, and resilience to navigate those that may arise in the future.
Taking the first step toward therapy can feel intimidating. Whether you're facing a specific challenge or looking for a greater sense of balance and direction, I welcome the opportunity to connect and explore how we might work together.
